Sources of Light

LIGHT_Reflection and Refraction

REFRACTION

When  light goes from air to water and its direction changes.

REFLECTION

When light hits an object and the rays reflect in the same direction.

HOW DO WE SEE COLOURS?

If an object looks green, it is absorbing every colour except green. The colour we see is the colour reflected.

UNIT 1 HEALTY HABITS: INFECTIOUS AND NON-INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Some diseases such as colds are contagious. This means they can be transmitted from one person to another. Pathogens enter the body through the nose and mouth.

UNIT 1 NUTRITION_ THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

INHALATION

- We breathe in oxygen.
-The diaphragm, the big muscle under the lungs, contracts.
-The ribs expand.

EXHALATION

- We breathe out carbon dioxide.
- The ribs and diaphragm relax.

UNIT 1 NUTRITION_THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM

THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM

The excretory system consists of the urinary system and sweat glands.

1.     What two waste products are excreted by our body?

Urine and sweat are excreted by our body.

2.     What is the function of the renal arteries?

The renal arteries carry blood to the kidneys

3.     Which organs eliminate waste from the blood?

Kidneys eliminate waste from the blood.

4.     Which tubes connect the kidneys to the bladder?

Ureters connect the kidneys to the bladder.

5.     How is the bladder emptied?

The bladder is emptied by another tube called urethra.

v Use your answers to summarize in 5 lines the whole text about the excretory system.

Urine and sweat are excreted by our body.
The renal arteries carry blood to the kidneys.
They (kidneys) eliminate waste from the blood.
Ureters connect the kidneys to the bladder.
The bladder is emptied by another tube called urethra.

UNIT 1 NUTRITION: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

The main organ is the heart.
It (the heart),sends* oxygen and nutrients to our cells.
